When
You Need an Expert…
Hire
a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer
WHY?
Professional Traffic Operations
Engineer (PTOE) certification provides you and the public at-large with a
discernible measure of an engineer's
competence, based on professional registration, years of experience and
passing a one-day examination to ensure competency.
WHERE?
After successfully completing the
Board’s requirements, the engineer will earn the title, Professional Traffic
Operations Engineer (PTOE). Successful completion of the written
examination demonstrates that the certification seeker possesses both
knowledge and skills that meet exacting and objective criteria. Sixty-seven
percent of the individuals who have sat for the certification examination
have passed.
HOW?
The
Transportation Professional Certification Board Inc., a nonprofit
organization located in Washington, DC, designed and administers the only
comprehensive program to Board certify those engineers with demonstrated
knowledge, skill, and ability in the specialized application of traffic
operations engineering. The Certification Board is affiliated with the
Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). Certification is a voluntary
process by which individuals are recognized for their expertise in a
specific field of endeavor. Such certification enhances public safety by
assuring that the certification holder possesses the knowledge, skills and
abilities to provide a highly competent level of service to the public. The
certification program was designed to meet the standards of the National
Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
